Proteas skipper Quinton de Kock has won the toss and elected to bat in the third and final T20 against England at Newlands.

Proteas skipper Quinton de Kock has won the toss and elected to bat in the third and final T20 against England at Newlands.

Unfortunately for Proteas fans, the match is a ‘dead’ rubber after England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series on Sunday in Paarl.

England won the first clash at Newlands by five wickets and then wrapped up the series at Boland Park, winning by four wickets.

The Proteas made two changes to their team with Heinrich Klaasen and Kagiso Rabada missing out.

They were replaced by Pite van Biljon and Lutho Sipamla, respectively.

England, meanwhile, resisted the temptation to change their winning combination.

Following their T20 series, the sides will do battle in a three-match ODI series.

STATS AND TRIVIA

Victory in the third T20I would see England draw level with Australia at the top of the ICC rankings.

Newlands has not been a happy hunting ground for South Africa in recent years, with five defeats in seven T20Is going back to 2016.

Jonny Bairstow needs 62 runs to become the fifth Englishman to reach 1 000 in T20Is.
