Touching details of the moment Mampintsha’s mother died last night are trickling in, and it has been revealed that she called her family to say goodbye before passing on.
Mampintsha’s mother, Zama Gumede, died last night at Westworth Hospital at the age of 64. Her health reportedly took a dive following Mampintsha’s untimely death on 24 December 2022.
Zama Gumede had been unwell before Mampintsha’s death but got worse when the star suffered a stroke. After his death, she also experienced a stroke which badly affected her liver and mobility.
Gumede was failing to come to terms with her son’s passing.
She went through amnesia, seemingly forgetting that Mampintsha had died. Last week, Mampintsha’s sister, Pinky Dumede, revealed that her mother had also been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

“She called us at 10 pm to come to visit her at the hospital, me and my children. When we arrived, she said she wanted to say her last goodbyes. She left us at 11 pm.
“She held our hands and gave us all a message. She said she was saying goodbye. Her last words to me were that I should look after the children and she will miss Mampintsha’s son.
“She said there was no time. She told us she loved us and that we should look after ourselves. She said that she was very tired.”
Mampintsha’s widow, Babes Wodumo, wrote a heartfelt message on her Facebook page and asked Zama Gumede to greet her husband for her.
Last week, Babes Wodumo’s family said they did not believe Mampintsha’s mother was sick. They added that had she been ill; Pinky would have called to alert them.
