A woman paid a fine of R10 000 for the admission of guilt for illegally being in South Africa. She is believed to be the sister of self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri, according to TimesLIVE. The woman is named Esther Bushiri and she is 26 years old. She appeared at the Midrand's magistrate's court for the case.
According to an annexure, she was found to have been guilty of:
"Contravening provision of section 41(1) ... in that the accused, as a foreigner, unlawfully and intentionally, contrary to the provisions of section 9 of act 13 of 2002, entered the republic of South Africa on date unknown to the state and at a place unknown to the state.”
Esther left the country as soon as her fingerprints had been taken by the authorities and said that she could not give comment on issues regarding her brother. Her attorney Calvin Maile said that she should not give a comment. Maile said he did not know the biological relationship of his client when he was asked by the Sunday Times if Esther was indeed the sister of Shepherd Bushiri. “I do not know the biological relationship of my client,” he said.

BLF says Bushiri will not get a fair trial in Ramaphosa's South Africa. Black First Land First (BLF) Deputy President Zanele Lwana has joined the few people who are defending Shepherd Bushiri. Along with ANC MP Boy Mamabolo, the BLF is standing with the self-proclaimed prophet. Lwana said:
"The government of South Africa is not interested in the rule of law. It’s interested in tarnishing the name of the prophet."
Since the Bushiris have been on the run, South African law enforcement has been working overtime to make sure that justice is served. The Hawks have come forward and have asked the South African public to come forward, should they have any information related to Shepherd Bushiri and his wife's escape from the country.
